Sound Story
I layered and balanced sound, using volume levels to simulate proximity, allowing the listener to understand or imagine a story (events, places, characters) from the sound sequencing, and layering descriptive sounds that allow the listener to identify a sense of place, time, and sequence within a 60-90 second span. I created a three-act narrative using only ambient sounds. The story comprised a descriptive setting (act 1), an incident that occurs (act 2), and a change in the setting (act 3). Using the ambient sounds I described the surroundings, the activities or events in the area, the users of the place, the time of day, and the season of year. Through this process it taught me the basics of sound design and audio production methods using Adobe Premiere.
