Concept
As a team, our mission was to design a Boutique Hotel in the heart of New York city that resembles our styles as designers while also creating an atmosphere for hotel guests and public visitors, that is an experience in itself. as we both reflected on the great memories of our past, we related to the naturalistic aspects involving the aroma and beautiful scenery of various flowers. The metaphor we created to drive our design choices is, "As I soak up the elegant, crisp field of vibrant flowers around me, The aroma of each flower takes away my breath. As I picnic with friends we REMINISCE thoughts of joy, happiness, and charming memories of our past". Our metaphor inspired our design decisions as we created our floor plans and the placement of rooms and furniture needed to create the space we were striving for. We wanted this boutique hotel to be an escape from the chaos New York City withholds and a reflection on the fun, colorful, and playful memories of a summer day.
The first floor had a receptionist desk and different places where customers could get a drink and lounge and also where customers could create a flower bouquet by choosing flowers of their choice.
The second floor is the nighttime area that has a stage for performing guests, lots of tables and seating for guests to get together, and a bar. There is also a flower wall with the hotel name for guests to take pictures and share with friends and family, from the second floor you can see the column of flowers which is the store on the first floor where guests can create their flower bouquets and lastly, there are sliding doors to the elevated park in New York City which is called High Line Park.
